Trivia / The Kingdom (DC Comics)

Go To

  • Creator Backlash:
    • Alex Ross refused to return for the series and has been vocal about how much he despises it, viewing it as a cheap and lazy cash grab that failed to understand the point of Kingdom Come.
    • Mark Waid evidently came to regret writing The Kingdom, as he admitted in volume three of the trade paperback collection of 52 that he felt Plastic Man's son Offspring was the only good thing to come out of the comic.
  • What Could Have Been:
    • The original concept would reveal that the Kingdom Come universe was actually a revitalized Earth-Two that somehow survived the Crisis, but was later rejected on the fact the Earth-One and Post-Crisis characters wouldn't exist in Earth-Two. If it's true, then they changed their minds so late that they couldn't completely remove that plot thread from the story as The Kingdom is bookended with Superman of Earth-Two pounding on the walls of reality.
    • Then it was planned for The Kingdom to be a prequel of sorts, which would take place between the "present" mainstream continuity and the future as portrayed in Kingdom Come.
