- Acting for Two:
- Dayci Brookshire voices both Jessica and Dressy.
- Jorge Diaz voices both Melvin and Stanley.
- In Season 3, David Koechner voices both Mr. Meaner and his sister Misty.
- Children Voicing Children: Played straight with George and Harold since they sound more like children, averted with others, such as Erica Luttrell (who was born in 1982) as Erica Wang.
- Creator-Preferred Adaptation: How did the show go with Dav Pilkey, the creator of Captain Underpants? He binge-watched the entire first season and turns out he loved it! See for yourself.
- Cross-Dressing Voices:
- In Season 3, Mr. Meaner's sister Misty is also voiced by David Koechner.
- In the Japanese dub, both George and Harold are voiced by women (Tomoe Hanba and Shizuka Ishigami).
- The Danza: Erica Luttrell plays Erica Wang.
- Defictionalization: Scholastic has published the comic books that George and Harold wrote in the show, complete with the snippets of dialogue that the narrator says in each panel.
- Descended Creator: Series developer Peter Hastings plays the comic book narrator.
- He Also Did: Showrunner Peter Hastings was also known for Kung Fu Panda: Legends of Awesomeness, the One Saturday Morning block, Animaniacs, and Pinky and the Brain.
- International Coproduction: Minor example; both "Captain Underpants and the Horrible Hostilities of the Homework Hydra" and "Captain Underpants and the Squishy Predicament of the Stanley Peet's Stinky Pits" were produced by Korean studio Digital eMation, while still being animated by the show's main studio Titmouse.
- Marth Debuted in "Smash Bros.": In Japan, the TV series debuted before the film, which wasn't released there until 2019, and not to theaters. Keep in mind the first five novels were already translated into Japanese.
- The Other Darrin: In the Italian dub, Bo Hweemuth was originally voiced by Oreste Baldini, but his brother Nanni took over halfway through Season 3. Oreste came back for the Halloween special and beyond.
- Playing Against Type: Jim Rash, best known for playing jerks, has a role as the unlucky but ultimately kind-hearted Jerry Citizen.
- Recursive Adaptation: This show, based on a book series, later got books of its own.
- Role Reprise:
- In most foreign language dubs, the movie voice actors returned in their roles.
- In the Italian dub, only Davide Lepore reprised his role as Melvin.
- Spoiled by the Cast List: The reveal that Grace Wain and Erica Wang are the same person is blown in the credits of the very first episode of Season 2, which lists Erica Luttrell as her actress.
- What Could Have Been: There were plans for an animated series in the early-mid 2000s by Soup2Nuts, with a pilot even being made. It never became a full series due to Dav Pilkey feeling like the books weren't ready for a full animated series at the time.
