While most of the family's designs are a hybrid of the original Charles Addams drawings and the 1992 Hanna-Barbera series, Cousin Itt's design is exclusively from the latter, complete with hat and shades.
Trivia Tropes
Ascended Fancast: Oscar Isaac was a popular fan choice for the role of Gomez, especially after rocking a similar look in Sucker Punch. He eventually got to voice the character in animation in this film.
Meaningful Release Date: Of course this movie about a creepy, kooky, mysterious, and spooky family would be released in October.
Not Screened for Critics: Hit with a critical embargo that lasted until the day before its release, though it wasn't horrible.
The Other Darrin: Pugsley will be voiced by Javon Walton in the sequel, instead of Finn Wolfhard.
Release Date Change: The first teaser and accompanying poster slated the film for a Halloween 2019 release, but it was later pushed upwards to October 11th, 2019.
What Could Have Been: Back in 2010, the movie was originally going to be produced by Universal Pictures and Illumination Entertainment, with Tim Burton directing and the animation being Stop Motion instead of CGI. Universal would still have some stake in the final product, as they are distributing the film outside of the USA on MGM's behalf. Burton would end up working on a separate Addams project, the Netflix series Wednesday.
