• Actor Allusion: Bridget Flanery, who played one of the mean girls on Sabrina the Teenage Witch, plays the local Alpha Bitch, albeit of the Lovable Alpha Bitch persuasion.
• The Danza: Jerry Van Dyke as Grandpa Jerry Beauchamp.
• Follow the Leader: Both the show and fellow magical offering You Wish were ordered in response to Sabrina the Teenage Witch being a ratings hit. Both proved short-lived, with Teen Angel having just a handful of more episodes than You Wish.
• Out of Order: "The Play's the Thing" was filmed when Maureen McCormick was still in the cast, but it aired a couple weeks after "Grumpy Young Men" (the episode that explains where her character went).
