  • Approval of God: David Bowie was a fan of the band and personally requested they cover his track "Heroes" on the War Child: Heroes charity album. He'd previously worked with them on the track Province, which increased their credibility considerably.
  • Better Export for You: Several of their albums have bonus tracks, but of note are the tracks "Nobody Else" and "Mystery Eyes" which are only available digitally on the Japanese release of Seeds. They are also available on the vinyl version. The reason for this is that they were recorded after the album (as a CD and download) originally came out.
  • Black Sheep Hit: "Dancing Choose" features Tunde rapping, which he had never done on record before.
  • Creator Backlash: OK Calculator, kinda. They don't hate it, per se, but they're certainly not overly fond of it.
Tunde Adebimpe: (From a Downhill Battle interview) We made this disc OK Calculator and left it in cafes and just different places. Just 24 tracks of four-track stuff. And that's on-line now. We sold a few of them on our first tour, a couple, but then the CD burner broke, etc. That's on-line and someone wrote about it as "the extremely rare but superb OK Calculator" and I’m sitting there going, "Are you kidding me?" Rare, yeah, rare because we're making them ourselves, and superb, that's not up to us, but it's not superb. (laughs) I’d be the first person to tell you. There's more hiss on some of those songs than there are songs. And it's fun, and I love it, but I wouldn't call it superb.
  • Died During Production: Gerard Smith, the band's bassist, died of lung cancer one week after the release of Nine Types of Light.
  • He Also Did: Tunde Adebimpe has appeared in lead or major supporting roles in a couple films, notably Jump Tomorrow and Rachel Getting Married.
