  • Colbert Bump: While a popular group from The '70s, they're experiencing a surge in popularity with Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 using "Fox on the Run" in their second trailer as well as in the actual movie.
  • Misattributed Song: There's a strange misconception in some corners of the internet, shared by a surprising number of lyrics archives, that American band Blue Öyster Cult recorded Ballroom Blitz. The fact that the distinctively British Sweet recorded this and had the hit single does not stop it being attributed to the BOC. Nor does the fact it was written by Chinn and Chapman stop it being credited to Eric Bloom and Donald (Buck Dharma) Roeser. OK, it sounds like something the BOC might have recorded or at least covered live - but they've never been anywhere near it. Consider the opening lyrics:
    Are you ready, Steve? Aha.
    Andy? Yeah! Mick? OK.
    Alright, fellas, let's Go!!
    • Strange for a band whose members are called Eric, Buck, Allen, Albert and Joey. Mick, Andy and Steve are, in reality, the first names of three of the Sweet.
  • Referenced by...: Episode 54 of World War II begins with host Indy Neidell, talking about the air war above Britain, say into his telephone, "No, no. Not the ballroom kind."
  • Refrain from Assuming: The mostly instrumental "Air on 'A' Tape Loop" note  is not called "Alpha Beta Gamma Delta".
  • The Pete Best: Frank Torpey and Mick Stewart, both of the two guitarists before Andy Scott joined in 1970.
  • What Could Have Been: The Sweet had been personally invited to open for The Who on their 1974 tour. The slot was cancelled after Brian Connolly's vocal cords were damaged after the infamous mugging incident.
