- What Could Have Been: The original story had Picard injured, and Crusher revealing her feelings for him while trying to save him from dying. However, Gene Roddenberry didn't want to do a love story, while showrunner Maurice Hurley was concerned that just having Crusher treating Picard would amount to little more than a Hurt/Comfort Fic, and so it was changed to having the injured Crusher forced to instruct Picard on how to treat her.
