• Colbert Bump: Got a lot more fans after performing with Nirvana for their Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction.
• Corpsing: Annie is clearly doing her best to not crack up when she has a live swan on her lap in the "New York" video but she's slightly smirking anyway.
• Creator Breakdown: Masseduction was largely inspired by her relationship and subsequent break up with actress and model Cara Delevingne, as well as her frustration of only being seen as "Cara's ex" by the general public.
• Dyeing for Your Art:
  • Kept up white hair for the entirety of her self titled album cycle, even though it was obviously damaging her hair to do so. She reverted back to either dark brown/black afterwards.
  • Subverted for the promotion of Daddy's Home where she sports a bob-styled wig with the outer layer bleached platinum blonde instead.
• Reclusive Artist: Annie is noted to be fairly private about her personal life. David Byrne said that he toured alongside her for a year he still barely knew a thing about her.
• Reality Subtext: The line "I have lost a hero, I have lost a friend" in "New York" was inspired by the deaths of several famous artists in 2016 like David Bowie, Leonard Cohen and Prince, who were all strong musical influences for Annie.
  • Daddy's Home was named in light of her father being released after serving a sentence for white-collar crime.
