• Creator's Favorite Episode: Both of the episode's writers, Aaron Springer and C.H. Greenblatt, went on record to say in the DVD Commentary that they were extremely proud of how the episode turned out, to the point that they deliberately wrote "Survival of the Idiots" to be a Creator-Driven Successor to this episode.
• What Could Have Been: When Sandy was raking the leaves, she made the symbol for "Girl Power" instead of Texas. She also originally did a whole dance routine when stepping on the leaves, but that had to be cut for time. There was also an alternate ending where, instead of SpongeBob laughing when realizing Sandy began her hibernation, he said, "Why I oughta!"
