Trivia / Spike's Gambit

• What Could Have Been:
  • According to Word of God, the original story was going to include Applejack getting married to Flim in a Vegas-style wedding in order to erase her own gambling debts to the Flimflam Brothers and Spike having to save her. The author didn't really like that idea, so it was left out.
  • Miss Harshwhinny was originally going to be portrayed as a hotel critic/inspector, complete with Miss Peachbottom being mistaken for said special guest. Still, the chapter involving them was so much like their debut episode in ''Friendship Is Magic'' that it was scrapped altogether. Harshwhinny only made a cameo as head of the resort's Human Resources department.
  • Another idea that never came to bear fruit was a chapter that would have had Spike losing his voice and having to communicate through sign language. It would have culminated in Applejack worrying that she would never hear Spike's "beautiful voice" again and her breaking down in tears just as he started to get his voice back.
