• Approval of God: Robert Smith enjoyed the episode and was flattered when Kyle called Disintegration "the best album ever".
• As Himself: Robert Smith of The Cure guest stars as himself. Supposedly, Smith is the one of only two guest stars (the other being Natasha Henstridge) that Trey Parker and Matt Stone have ever personally requested Comedy Central arrange for their appearance on South Park in the two decades it has been on the air.
• Reality Subtext: While Trey Parker and Matt Stone say their pot shots at celebrities are mostly in good fun, Barbra Streisand is one of the few they openly dislike. Her portrayal in this episode was due to her criticizing the entire state of Colorado for passing Amendment 2 by a slim margin. This would have forbade gays from being recognized as a protected class, though it was later overturned by Colorado's Supreme Court. Streisand lashed out by calling Colorado "a bunch of hicks" and publicizing a boycott of the state. Despite being opposed to homophobia themselves, they felt her reaction was unjustified which says a lot about how much they hate her.^note It's food for thought that, of all the corrupt politicians, high-profile criminals and even murderers they've depicted, Streisand is the person they hated the most personally... for being rude.
