- Hostility on the Set:
- Sammy was reported to have had a backstage beef with fellow AEW wrestler Eddie Kingston. The beef was said to have started with Sammy calling Eddie "fat" in a promo, to which Eddie attacked him behind the scenes in response. As a result, Eddie was suspended instead of Sammy because the latter's insult was part of his Jerk Jock character while the former's aggression was legitimate.
- Happened again with Andrade el Ídolo due to Sammy making comments that Andrade was only relevant to wrestling because of nepotism. The latter replied by getting in a fight with him on Wednesday (which the fans thought would happen on-screen in Dynamite, but unfortunately turned out to be legitimate). According to reliable sources, it seems that Andrade punched Sammy in a desperate attempt for "El Ídolo" to get fired from AEW, but instead got suspended.
- Role-Ending Misdemeanor: He double-booked himself on several MLW dates including SUPERFIGHT and was released shortly after for his unprofessionalism.
- Romance on the Set: Sammy is currently married to fellow AEW wrestler Tay Melo.
