Trivia / Samaritan

  • Channel Hop: Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer intended the film to be a theatrical release. However, following multiple COVID-19 Pandemic related delays and the studio being bought by Amazon, the film finally saw release through Prime Video.
  • Dueling Works: With Secret Headquarters. Both are original superhero movies unconnected to any existing franchise centering on a young boy who discovers the identity of a superhero. Secret Headquarters is a more lighthearted family comedy film, however, whereas Samaritan is a more melancholy action dramanote .
  • Production Posse: This film reunites Julius Avery with his Overlord (2018) composer, Jed Kurzel, as well as actor Pilou Asbæk from the same film.
  • Release Date Change: The film was originally set to release in theaters on November 20, 2020. It was then pushed back to December 11, and then again to June 4, 2021, before finally being released on Prime Video in August 2022.
  • Spoiled by the Merchandise: The film's soundtrack's first track is titled "Samaritan vs. Nemesis" and the final track before the ending and credits is titled "Cyrus vs. Nemesis"; put 2 and 2 together and you'd be able to figure out that Sly's character is actually Nemesis, not Samaritan.
