Trivia / Run Sweetheart Run

Go To

  • Channel Hop: Originally this film was to be released by Blumhouse Tilt and OTL releasing, now the film was in Amazon Studios.
  • Missing Trailer Scene: The theatrical trailer showed that when Ethan was ready to come in, Trey with his male-assisted gang and was ready to fight Ethan, and he said a famous quote to Ethan: "Come in. Please." However, in the final cut, Dawn took his position of fighting Ethan, and his famous quote wasn't heard.
    • The second trailer opens with a scene of Cherie showing her female coworkers a picture of Ethan on her phone, and they all talk about how attractive he is. Her boss also says that he is attractive. This scene is not in the final cut of the movie.
  • Reality Subtext: The film director, Shana Feste based the film on her real-life experiences of being a victim of a traumatizing date and sexual assault.
  • Release Date Change: It premiered at Sundance on January 27, 2020 and was scheduled to be released theatrically on May 8, 2020, but the COVID-19 pandemic blocked the theatrical chance. On May 26, 18 days after its planned theatrical release, Deadline posted an article that said that Amazon Studios had acquired distribution rights to the film, but it wasn't until 2 years later that they finally gave it a digital release on October 28, 2022. Somewhat justified, as the studio took this extra time to reshoot some elements to reflect some criticism of an earlier cut that premiered at SXSW 2021.
  • The Shelf of Movie Languishment: Shot in 2019, released in 2022. See Release Date Change above. Somewhat subverted, however, as the movie was actually slightly reshot in that gap after a lukewarm reception at SXSW film festival in early 2020; the trope still applies, however, since the reshoots were over by early 2022, and it still sat shelved for nearly a year.
