Trivia / Risk of Rain 2

• Ascended Fanon: The planet's name of Petrichor V came from a YouTube comment suggesting the word "Petrichor" (meaning "the aroma of rain-soaked earth") be used as a song title if there was to be a Risk of Rain 2. Composer Chris Christodoulou wrote the name down and, by the time that ROR2 was in development, the Hopoo Games team had discovered that fans had adopted Petrichor as the planet's name. The V was added by the ROR2 team and the name became canonical by the time of the 1.0 update. See under Shout-Out on the Main page for what the V stands for.
• Fan Nickname: The community has a habit of combining words to come up with nicknames for items and survivors - thus, "Bungus" for Bustling Fungus, "Wungus" for Weeping Fungus, and "Viend" for Void Fiend.
• Release Date Change: 1.0 was planned to release in the Spring of 2020 for PC and Summer of 2020 for consoles. However, both dates were pushed back to August and Fall in the same year respectively in order to ensure that the full version is "truly a complete game experience".
• What Could Have Been: Much like the first game, Risk of Rain 2 has large amounts of cut content, and its expansion added even more. There's such a large amount of it that it's been moved to its own page.
