Trivia / Receiver 2

Go To

  • Dummied Out: There's a good amount of unused content if you access the debug mode: an unused ending cutscene, an unfinished firing range and Receiver training compound that was to be the tutorial, unfinished boss events such as a gunship and sniper drone and having to shut down a giant machine, as well as leftovers for Steam Achievements, the latter of which have since been fully implemented as of Update 2.0.6, and the firing range and training compound were fully implemented in the Compound Update.
  • The Other Darrin: The Tape Receiver was voiced by one of Wolfire's lead developers, Aubrey in Receiver. However, in this game, he's voiced by Leo Wiggins, after David Rosen felt that having a professional voice actor for the role would be more appropriate. In the Compound Update, Aubrey returns to voice the new Isolation Set tapes.
  • What Could Have Been: A huge amount of unused content is present in the game files, including...
    • Several cut boss encounters; an "Evil Device", "Stealth Bot", "Sniper Bot" and a "Gunship". Included UI dialogue implies you would've had to kill each of these in order to progress.
    • Unused video for an ending cutscene, as well as audio for three different alternate endings where you're contacted directly by the Threat.
    • A number of tapes are included in the game that don't actually spawn due to a bug, including one with advice on using the flashlight.
      • The flashlight tapes, as well as the tapes for balloons, automatics in general, and revolvers in general, have been made obtainable as of the Compound Update.
    • The opening tutorial of the game originally would've taken place at a shooting range at the Receiver compound.
  • Word of Saint Paul: Leo Wiggins has said on stream that the Tape Receiver character lost his brother to The Threat and doesn't dismiss The Threat as a mere abstract, philosophical construct as a result.
