• Creator's Favorite Episode: The fan-favorite battle between Ash and Paul at the Sinnoh League is greatly favored by the staff as well; Rica Matsumoto (Ash's Japanese voice actress), Shoko Nakagawa (a prominent actress and singer for the Japanese version), and Sarah Natochenny (Ash's current English voice actress) have all stated it to be their favorite battle in the anime.
• Lying Creator: One writer for the series claimed that Dawn's Piplup wouldn't be allowed to evolve because its evolutions, Prinplup and Empoleon, were considered "ugly and uninteresting for contests". Despite this, Dawn's rival Kenny evolved his Piplup offscreen and used its evolutions in several contests.
• Missing Episode: Neither of the two Clip Show episodes ("Ash and Dawn! Head for a New Adventure!!" and "Those Mysterious Creatures, Pokémon!") were dubbed.
• Recast as a Regular:
  • In the original Japanese version, Megumi Toyoguchi spent her first roles in the anime voicing episodic characters such as Ramona (in the Original Series), Janet and princess Sara (in Advance Generation). She finally got the chance to have a main role in the Diamond and Pearl series with Dawn, the main heroine.
  • A similar case happened in the European Spanish version with Dawn's voice actress Mar Bordallo, who until getting cast as Dawn only played supporting and/or episodic characters (most notably DJ Mary from the Johto saga).
