- What Could Have Been: A Pilotwings game was planned for the GameCube in 2003, and was to be produced by Factor 5 of Rogue Squadron fame. Instead, the game was delayed, eventually resumed development on the Wii, but Shigeru Miyamoto scrapped it because of concerns that it wasn't good enough. Whether that game will ever be released remains to be seen.
- Word of Saint Paul: According to Nintendo Power, the resemblance between Lark in 64 and their mascot Nester is not coincidental — Lark is Nester, with "Lark" merely being a nickname. This same piece of trivia likewise raises the possibility that the other pilots (all of whom have avian Theme Naming like Lark) have also adopted code names.
- Working Title: Dragonfly and Flight Club for the original game.
