Trivia / Phantom's Reckoning

• Doing It for the Art: The author writes the stories simply because he enjoys it, though also with a desire to spread word of these stories.
• What Could Have Been:
  • Originally Phantom's Reckoning 2 was going to have completley different new protagonists from the ones we got before writing begun. However Yuki, Kaori and Makoto were previously created characters already established, so they were given this story. Shoji and Tatsuya were created to complete the Five-Man Band.
  • The first Phantom's Reckoning was originally supposed to have a different ending where Rain does defeat Black Death and stop the Phantoms, with a happy ending. However this was changed for the sake of adding a Sequel Hook, because Phantom's Reckoning 2 was planned ahead, and there would be more justification to have a second story. Had the original ending came to be, 2 would have seen the Phantoms resurrect and get their second revenge.
  • In the year before 2 was made, one idea was that the new protagonists actually wouldn't naturally have the ability to see Phantoms, unlike the protagonists from the first one. Instead, whatever Mentors they would have had would have given them special Martial Arts Headbands that were made with the Phantoms aura, and when they wore them then they could see Phantoms. Artwork of Yuki prior to 2 even had him wearing the headband. The idea never made it to the final version and the headband was dropped from Yuki's outfit.
  • And now all of Phantom's Reckoning 3, which the author has decided not to go through with in favour for the other two works in the series planned. The story of 3 would have retained the protagonists from 2, and the story would have Yuki meet his sister and another group and they would go to a prohibited island known as Ikoii Island where they would confront "Ignis", who have created Phantom mechas based off the Phantoms' DNA and are lead by Yuki's evil brother, with the other 2 protagonists coming to the island as well. Most of the protagonists that would have been introduced in 3 will make their way into the upcoming Time Fracture, which would have happened anyway.
• Writing by the Seat of Your Pants: The author usually only plans ahead stuff like the characters, the premise and some possible plot points. The rest is made up on the fly.
  • At least for 1, and 2 to an extent. The latter half of 2 was planned out while the story was still in the middle of being written.
