Trivia / Pete's Dragon (2016)

Go To

  • Billing Displacement: Downplayed. Oakes Fegley, who plays the titular character, gets second billing behind Bryce Dallas Howard (the deuteragonist of the film), but still ahead of major adult actors like Karl Urban and Wes Bentley.
  • DVD Commentary: There’s a fun one on the Blu-Ray done by writer/director David Lowery, co-writer Toby Halbrooks and actors Oakes Fegley and Oona Laurence (who play Pete and Natalie respectively). They often provide neat behind the scenes details and in Lowery’s case what it was like working with child actors.
  • Magnum Opus Dissonance: Despite appearing in roles of decidedly family-unfriendly material, Oona Laurence has stated this is one of her favorite movies she’s worked on and that she would love to star in a sequel if it ever happened.
  • No Stunt Double: David Lowery notes in the DVD commentary that Iona Laurence and Oakes Fegley did their own stunts, including falling out of a tree (though they had the assistance of wires for that one).
  • What Could Have Been: Michael C. Hall and Casey Affleck were originally supposed to play Gavin and Jack but both couldn’t due to scheduling conflicts. They were replaced by Karl Urban and Wes Bentley respectively.
  • Word of God: In the special features on the Blu-ray, Elliot is mentioned as being a vegetarian.
