  • The Danza: The main character's original name was supposed to be Vladik (short for "Vladislav"). However, the director was so impressed with Aleksandr Demyanenko's portrayal of the character that he decided to rename him Shurik (a shortened form of "Aleksandr").
    • That was not the only reason to rename the character. Vladik was also a short form of Vladlen, a name derived from Vladimir Lenin. Soviet censorship of the time wouldn't allow to screen a film featuring a comic character with such a name, as that would be considered to be making fun of Lenin.
