Trivia / One Night at Flumpty's

Go To

  • Approval of God: Though the post was deleted so as not to draw attention to Jonochrome, who was suffering from a Creator Breakdown at the time, Scott Cawthon mentioned in a Steam post that he enjoyed the Flumpty games. This may have been the contributing factor that got One Night at Flumpty's 3 to be part of the Fazbear Fanverse Initiative.
  • Artist Disillusionment:
    • Jonochrome admitted in a video that this was the reason he cancelled One Week at Flumpty's, stating he wasn't having fun making it. And, though he tried to push himself to continue, he ultimately couldn't bring himself to do it, as he felt it wouldn't be fair to the fans to make a game he didn't put his heart into.
    • It happened again on his Twitter. People seem to associate him with Flumpty even after OWaF was cancelled, and it culminates to making this.
I declare this the canonical death of Flumpty.
I will not make anything else in any way related to Flumpty (unless I accept a rare commission involving the Flumpty character or associated characters).
I also will not utilize a creative outlet like animation, game development, or YouTube videos to make anything else related to Five Nights at Freddy's (except under the same specific commissioning conditions).
Flumpty will not be an Easter egg in my future games or other projects.
Games using artwork from any of the Flumpty games I worked on are not permitted. If a game is made using my series' art, or art barely distinguishable from it, that game will be reported and deleted.
I also plan to either ignore or mute all questions and comments about Flumpty until further notice.
This is my limit. I've finally, well, "cracked."
As much as I'm grateful for the response the ONAF series has received, it's so frustrating that when people see the name "Jonochrome", their whole focus is on my silly short-term parody side-game series. I don't care how original or high-quality they are, they're still fan games. I don't want to be "the best fan game developer ever." I'd rather be known as a real game developer.
      Keep moving forward.
    • For a long time, both games were removed from Game Jolt, until they were put back up recently because "people keep stealing them".
    • Jonochrome has somewhat mellowed out about the games. Though the characters probably won't be appearing again, he at least reuploaded his developer's commentaries and noted no one gains anything from the negative attitude he held for a while
    • With the reveal that Jonochrome is making One Night at Flumpty's 3 as part of the Fazbear Fanverse Initiative, he also pointed out that he plans for it to be the last game in the series.
  • Based on a Dream: According to the developer's commentary of the second game, the concepts of the light switch and the Exposure meter are based on two nightmares Jonochrome had.
  • Cancellation: As described in Artist Disillusionment above, Jonochrome wanted absolutely nothing to do with the games anymore for a time, and temporarily cancelled the planned third game.
  • Creator Backlash: Jonochrome went through a particularly bad case of this when One Night at Flumpty's became big, stating that he wanted to make great video games, not just great fan games. After which, he took both games down and refused to mention the character Flumpty ever again. It was only after a revolt in the fanbase that he reluctantly put both of the games back on Game Jolt. This phase seems to have passed with him having been invited to join the "Fazbear Fanverse Initiative", thus working on a third game.
  • Meaningful Release Date: One Night at Flumpty's 3 was released on Halloween 2021.
  • Role-Ending Misdemeanor: Shortly after the release of ONAF 3, Jonochrome ended up getting exposed for grooming a minor, along various other bad things. Jonochrome has since left the internet with the claim of seeking mental help, with the work on the Egg Collection left unreleased.
  • Running the Asylum: Though Jonochrome has long since stopped working on One Week At Flumpty's due to the aforementioned Creator Breakdown, he has given the fans a file containing everything he has already worked on from that game as well as a carte blanche for the fans to do whatever they want with it. The game is now currently being finished by a subreddit that has since gained his approval. Also, for more information on this, be sure to do a quick browse on the One Night at Flumpty's wiki and you'll even be able to find images of the unfinished levels in no time.
  • What Could Have Been:
    • The entirety of One Week At Flumpty's.
      • One idea was to have the player move from one room to the next using lasers to ward off pursuers. It was dropped, however, as Jonochrome realized the player could just camp in one room doing this, resulting in no challenge.
      • Another was to have the rooms switch around to confuse the player. But Jonochrome found it to be too much work to execute. Something like this did manage to be implemented in the third game however, but in an occasional, smaller scale.
      • Similar to the first Five Nights at Freddy's, as the week went on, more of the Flumpty crew would join in on the game.
      • The Beaver was going to return in Week as a toilet paper Mummy, playing off his Toilet Humor gimmick.
      • Jonochrome also toyed with the idea of having a twist ending in which it was revealed that two new characters, Champ and Chump, were actually the player from the previous game and said player's friend. He explains that they became Flumpty's monsters after the player refused to kill their other friend just to be his, so Flumpty killed both of them in response. The entirety of this game is said to be played in Flumpty's mind as he tries to come to grips with his actions. Meaning you were Flumpty the whole time.
    • In "ONaF 3 Developer Commentary (kind of)", Jonochrome says that he originally wanted to include a sanity effect for Flumpty Night where the game faked a crash or returned to the title screen, but he scrapped it because it would have interrupted gameplay too much.
    • Jonochrome's notes briefly seen in the same video also outline a few ideas for Flumpty Night that didn't make the cut:
      • A clone that functioned the same way Golden Flumpty did in the first two games, with his design based off the cracked Flumpty hallucination from the first game.
      • A limited monitor battery, similar to the laptop battery in the second game.
      • It seems that originally, Power Flumpty (the Flumpty clone who tries to turn the door power off) would have been stopped in a different manner, with mentions of a flashlight used to stun him.
      • Several unused Flumpty clone designs.
