- Adored by the Network: This film was absolutely adored by TVP, Polish national broadcaster, and as a result, got regular re-runs from 2000 onward, surviving the tenure of a few different head execs. Notably, TVP had similar obsession with the 1959 version, making it their go-to movie for free slots all the way till the early 90s.
- California Doubling: The castle of Caylus is Fort Queyras, in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region (South East France), quite far from the actual town of Caylus in South West France.
- Dawson Casting:
- Marie Gillain, who played barely 16 year old Aurore, was 22 during the production.
- Lagardère is called "young man" at the start of the film, and behaves like one. Daniel Auteuil was 47, though the character gets closer to the actor's then-age 16 years later when Aurore has grown up.
- Fake Nationality: The Belgian Marie Gillain as the French Aurore.
- Role Reprise: Philippe Noiret already played the regent Philippe d'Orléans in Que la fête commence (Let Joy Reign Supreme) in 1975. He played the character again 22 years later in On Guard.
- Typecasting: Vincent Perez as a Mr. Fanservice in The Cavalier Years (Cyrano de Bergerac, Captain Fracassa's Journey, La Reine Margot, On Guard, The Libertine, Fanfan la Tulipe etc).
