- Creator Cameo: Sort of. While Robbie Morrison doesn't appear on panel, he is established to be a writer in universe having penned books on Nikolai's adventures and at least one newspaper article. Simon Fraser and John Burns are credited as photographers on some of these works.
- What Could Have Been:
- Inverted. The original concept for the strip was for the story to begin after the Tsar Wars arc, with the titular war being just part of the backstory as opposed to being one of the primary plotlines. However, it was felt that the Romanovs were too compelling to just be Posthumous Characters.
- There were also plans to set the strip during the actual historical reign of the Romanovs, as opposed to a thousand years later.
