Promoted Fanboy: One of the stings in Season 9 was against one of the owners of a restaurant so they couldn't get their own Mystery Diners to work in the restaurant, getting the in-house staff to do so instead. One of them, a fan of the show, was really excited to do this.
Real-Life Relative: Destiney, one of the Mystery Diners, is the daughter of Charles Stiles.
The owner of Big Earl's Greasy Eats in Cave Creek, AZ admitted outright that everything on her episode was completely staged, as well as admitting she did it all for the free publicity (even when the restaurant was already popular) and is totally fine with it. The Cave Creek locals were not pleased.
