Trivia / Musical Touken Ranbu Atsukashiyama Ibun

Go To

  • Acting in the Dark: As Touken Ranbu's first major adaptation, with the trial performance released the same year the game went live, the actors had no reference for how they should portray the characters, with actor Kuroba Mario, who plays Mikazuki Munechika, stating that all they had to go on initially were the characters' names on the doors and their voices, requiring a little imagination to step into their roles.
  • Breakthrough Hit: The series' director Isamu Kayano and many of the actors involved in the project have expressed that none of them anticipated how big of a success the trial performance would be, nor how the musical would go on to be a widely popular, long-running series with no signs of slowing down.
  • Dye Hard: Daichi Saeki dyed his hair orange for the role of Iwatooshi in the trial performance.
  • Starmaking Role: Every member of the main cast was skyrocketed into stardom because of their roles in this play, with Ryuji Sato and Kuroba Mario becoming the most famous and successful of the bunch.
  • Word of God:
    • Ojarumaru Sakanoue from the titular series Ojarumaru served as the inspiration for Kuroba Mario's initial portrayal of Mikazuki Munechika, explaining Mikazuki's youthful characterization in the Trial Perfomance.
    • According to an interview between Kayano and Kuroba Mario, Mikazuki Munechika's actor, in the Michi no Oku, Hitotsu wa Chisu pamphlet, the reason Musical Touken Ranbu doesn't have a set "representative" or "troupe leader" is that, since Atsukashiyama Ibun, Kuroba Mario isn't the type of person who likes to take center stage, thus leading to a rotation of characters who represents each musical.
