Trivia / Monarch: Legacy of Monsters

Go To

  • California Doubling: With the exception of scenes set in Japan, most of the filming was shot in Vancouver and in other parts of British Columbia.
  • Dawson Casting: Lee Shaw is in his 90s but is played by 72 year old Kurt Russell. Lampshaded when May notes he looks unusually young for his age and Lee chalks it up to “good genes”. Duvall also mentioned that Lee is very young for his age. The 9th episode reveals that he ended up 20 years forward in time, and while he's physically in his 70's, his birth age is in his 90's.
  • Development Gag: A number of viewers have noted that the shot of Kong pounding his chest in the jungle during a thunderstorm at the end is extremely similar to the test footage for Kong: Skull Island seen at San Diego Comic-Con 2014.
  • Fake American:
    • Anna Sawai plays Cate Randa, a Japanese-American. Anna's a New Zealander of Japanese descent.
    • Christopher Heyerdahl, a Canadian, plays US Army General Puckett.
  • Fake Mixed Race: Takehiro Hira, a fully Japanese actor, plays Hiroshi Randa, the son of a white man and Japanese woman. His children Cate (Anna Sawai) and Kentaro (Ren Watanabe) who would both be a quarter white, are also played by actors of fully Japanese descent.
  • Role Reprise: John Goodman reprises his role as Bill Randa from Kong: Skull Island for the pilot episode, six years after he last played the part.
