Trivia / Miraculous Ladybug SP01 - "Miraculous World: New York"

• Ascended Fanon:
  • Lots of fans theorized that the miraculous use a Glamour to help keep their secret identities, thus explaining why no one has yet to figure out Ladybug and Cat Noir's secret identities after all of this time. In any fanfic with identity shenanigans, it's pretty much treated as a well-known fact that some magic protects their secret. This special confirms it, with Uncanny describing it as "quantum masking".
  • The scenes of Alya and Nino (with the American teen heroes taking it up) playing matchmaker with Alya mostly motivated by frustration with how ridiculously oblivious they are could have come from any of the zillion fanfics in which it's her (and any accomplices') main motivation. She's played matchmaker in the show before but the main problem was Mari getting tongue-tied.
  • It's also generally assumed that Nooroo's usual transformation command isn't "Dark wings, rise." Liiri turns out to have a "good" and "evil" transformation command. (Though it does leave the question of how the command can be changed. If Nooroo's command were simply "wings rise" as most assume, adding "dark" shouldn't harm it because the necessary part's still there, but Liiri's actually changes a word.)
• Development Gag: Both Sparrow and Mercury (speedster and one of the minor background heroes) were originally meant to be part of a team with Ladybug and Cat Noir, called the Quantic Kids.
• Divorced Instalment: Word of God says this episode was supposed to be a crossover with Ghost Force and Pixie Girl but those two shows hadn't been made yet.
• What Could Have Been: According to Thomas Astruc, the first version of the script could have made a two hour movie. Story arcs were planned for Ms. Mendeleiev, Mr. Damocles and Chloé, but they had to cut a lot of stuff.
