Trivia / Mega Man's Christmas Carol

Go To

  • Creator Backlash: In the soundtrack video for the third game, ACE stated his distaste for the boss exclusive to the original game's Flash version, Sleigh Attacker, considering it the worst boss in the series as a whole. He also mentioned disliking for the few remixes he contributed to that game.
  • Creator Breakdown: The third game eventually came out in 2019 after many delays and real-life difficulties, with the characters having gotten tired of the series in-universe.
  • Marth Debuted in "Smash Bros.": Wishing Star, whose first appearance was in Make a Good Mega Man Level Contest, only appears in his "home series" come the credits and one of the endings of the third game.
  • Schedule Slip: Both the sequel and the remake were released the day after Christmas. 2013 (as well as 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018) got no game at all. The third game was finally released in 2019 (on Ace's birthday, which fell on the 28th), with its trailer lampshading how bad the delay has been.
  • Troubled Production: The third game's production was delayed for years and was set to be released on 2018, only for ACE's health issues to come up, and followed by a particularly dark year, and a barely averted suicide. It finally was released in 2019, and even then the MaGMML3 staff had to help finish off the game themselves when ACE wasn't able to. A post-credits sequence where ACE talks directly to the viewer, tell of the troubles in more detail.
  • What Could Have Been: The third game wanted to continue the use of "The Little Drummer Boy" for the boss corridors, which had been in every game up until this point, and a new remix was made for it. When the game was finally released, however, it got replaced by a remix of "Silent Night". ACE mentioned in the third game's soundtrack video that a automated copyright strike on a private video for that song resulted in its replacement towards the end of development for future Let's Players to not be affected. The song is still in the game folder and the sound test, along with an explanation of the situation.
    • The third game in the series was planned to be more of a traditional Mega Man game, including full length stages. The Robot Masters would also be unrelated to A Christmas Carol, with ACE releasing artwork of two such bosses: "Advent Kerze" and "Toxic Brandy". Their weapon concepts can be seen here. Wishing Star and his level would eventually show up in Make a Good Mega Man Level Contest 2.
  • Word of Gay: Two of the series' male Robot Masters, Present and Mr. Fezziwig are seen dancing in a romantic fashion during one of the ending sequences for 'Christmas Carol 3'. According to ACE, he considers these masters a gay couple.
