- Channel Hop: The game was midway through production when Data East's pinball division was bought and rebranded as Sega Pinball. As a result, there are "DE Mavericks" and "Sega Mavericks" games out in the field. The games are nearly identical, with only minor changes in the Attract Mode graphics.
- Executive Meddling: The playfield was originally drawn with Bret Maverick (Mel Gibson) and Annabelle Bransford (Jodie Foster) at the poker table, with Zane Cooper (James Gardner) down between the flippers. Warner Bros. insisted that the art be redrawn to have Cooper seated with the others.
- Real Song Theme Tune: The game's main theme is Clint Black's "A Good Run of Bad Luck".
