  • Ascended Fanon: After the first appearance of culture department head Maxamillian John, in which he challenges a fellow employee to a game of Guess Who, fans speculated on what other Earth games he might play competitively, including DanceDanceRevolution. Shortly after, one of the patreon-exclusive employee feedback seminars confirmed that the culture department incorporated DDR into their annual recruitment presentation.
    • In another seminar, some younger employees are sentenced to be flogged for stanning Colin Denham in-universe, which could well be a reference to that character's small but enthusiastic real-world following.
  • Write Who You Know / The Danza: Like in their previous show, The Bunker, the show's creators all play characters named after themselves: David Knight, David Price and Tom Dalling as part of the main cast, and Maxamillian John as a minor recurring character. David Price is shortened to Dave to comply with the One-Steve Limit.
  • Trademark Favourite Food: The writers have a special fondness for biscuits. Besides multiple mentions in The Bunker, they actually include a short list of biscuit brands they presumably ate while working on the show on the MarsCorp credits page.
  • Jim was originally an ice cream vendor before losing everything in a fire/ storm/ [insert horrible accident here]. Martin created a new job called The OK Man just for him, so Jim would go around the base and ask every Martian if everything was 'OK' twice a week.
  • David Knight listened to "Float On" by Modest Mouse frequently while writing the show. (For The Bunker it was Talking Heads' "Nothing But Flowers.")
  • Jack Lee, the artist who made the posters for The Bunker series and MarsCorp's early artwork, makes a small appearance as Businessbot in E07.
