Trivia / MADNESS: Project Nexus 2

Go To

  • Acting for Two: William Harnar, aka Wallium, voices Tricky, Phobos, Dave, and a few types of mooks.
  • Ascended Fanon: The Project Creber origin is derived from the Project Creber fanseries' titular protagonist, being created with input from the original creator of the series.
  • Descended Creator: Krinkels himself voiced the very few lines that Hank had in Project Nexus 2, as well as being the body actor for 2bDamned in promotional material.
  • Dyeing for Your Art: Krinkels gave himself Doc's mohawk to fit the role in the Cinematic trailer, and was even sporting it during the Madness Day stream he held in 2022.
  • Meaningful Release Date: The game was released on September 29th, exactly one week after September 22nd (Madness Day).
  • Official Fan-Submitted Content: The N51 faction faced in Arena Mode's Hard Sell stage was made by Newgrounds member DarkSignal as a Kickstarter backer reward.
  • Shrug of God: Krinkels has stated that The Machine and everything surrounding the true nature of Arena Mode are up to the player to determine the true meaning of. One theory states that the Machine is the player's computer, and that the replayability of Arena Mode represents an attempt to fend off the series going into total obscurity, with the cataclysm brought by the Mandatus representing said obscurity. He simply said that the theory is valid.
  • What Could Have Been:
    • Concept art for the Hive on Kickstarter implies that it would have been more of a straight up Flunky Boss, being chained to a wall and burdened while spawning Zombie-like clones from holes in its chest. While the Mook Maker aspect was retained, the actual Hive is much more directly active in its boss battle and sports methods of directly attacking you rather than relying solely on Mooks.
    • The Ghoul would have originally been a mutated, cannibalistic and possibly zombified Mag Agent rather than a full-blown robot. By the look of the concept art, it would have eaten corpses mid-battle (presumably as a way of restoring its health) and would likely have been hostile to other AAHW units due to its excessive hunger.
    • Newgrounds artist and Madness Combat fan animator MindChamber contributed sketches of three potential Mag Agents to the Kickstarter, none of which made it into the game (allegedly, due to funding issues making them too expensive to hire.) These included a bestial, hunched Mag Agent with a clawed arm resembling post-Magnification Hank's (known as the "Mistake"), a Cyborg with something like a pair of Tesla coils in its back (known as the "Cog"), and an agent resembling a bizarre cross between a human, a slug, and a crab (known as the "Infection.")
    • By far one of the biggest things cut from the game were AAHW mode and Zombie mode. The former was going to be a dungeon maker and defender, where you set up units to see if they can be defeated by Hank. The latter was said to be a zombie survival mode, where you would need supplies to defend and kill zombies. Unfortunately, the amount of time that the game took to develop made the Madness Team divert more attention to the game itself than the modes, causing them to be perpetually shelved. While not directly stated to be cancelled, there is a definite lack of progress on them compared to other aspects of the game.
  • Word of God: Krinkels has stated on his CuriousCat profile and during a stream that the games are canon to the animated series' timeline, debunking the theory that the games are set in an Alternate Continuity.
