• Game Mod: Chris Sawyer himself has released the Shinkansen Series 0 "Bullet Train" as additional content on his website here. It was originally going to be included with the game alongside other Japanese vehicles and buildings but those were cut for unknown reasons.
  • While not as large as Transport Tycoon's NewGRF community, this game does have a sizeable modding community. Locomotion Depot is but one site which offers Locomotion mods.
• Screwed by the Lawyers: The game's EULA forbids modification of the executable file. As a result, it was assumed for a long time that the likes of TTDPatch and OpenTTD which expanded its predecessor's lifetime would never happen for Locomotion. This was eventually averted with the development of OpenLoco by the same team as OpenRCT2, which takes advantage of the fact that Locomotion was built on RollerCoaster Tycoon 2's engine (much of the code is identical between the two, with only some areas left to reverse-engineer from Locomotion).
