Trivia / Key West

Go To

  • Executive Meddling: The series was an original pitch created by playwright David Beaird which had been circulating in Hollywood for several years. Fox bought it with the intention of making it their own version of Northern Exposure. After the pilot was produced they mandated several changes to make it closer to Northern Exposure, most notably having Seamus's lottery winnings garnished so that he'd be trapped in Key West (similar to Joel in Cicely). There were also several episodes which had the exact same plots as episodes of Northern Exposure (most notably "Pieces of A Man" and "The Great Unknown").
  • Out of Order: Episode 9 ends with Hunter Farmer disappearing in the Bermuda Triangle, but he appears in the next episode with no explanation as to what happened. The last four episodes seem to have been held back from earlier in the season since they contain plotlines such as Seamus writing his first story (he'd already written several by this point) and meeting the mayor for the first time (they'd already met on several occasions.)
