* NoBudget: The series was made on a budget of $29,000 per episode, and it shows through its CastFullOfWriters and [[LimitedAnimation extremely-limited flash animation]], both of which are in huge effect. Greg Lawrence even admitted in an interview that he hired his animators fresh out of school and pretty much destroyed their training with the crude animation they had to do.

* BannedEpisode: "The New Mr. Franklin", the eight episode from the first season, was pulled after it garnered complaints over content, specifically Kevin and Percy robbing a church and hurling snowballs at the congregation.

* NowWhichOneWasThatVoice: The series doesn't credit the voices for which characters they played, only featuring a single group of credited "Voices", which changes depending on the episode.

* KeepCirculatingTheTapes: The original Mondo Media versions of the shorts were largely lost until 2022. The Burly Bear/CTV versions of the shorts had a majority of them uploaded to [=YouTube=] in 2021, but the rest remain lost.

** "Fire Starter", an episode from the first season, was banned alongside the aforementioned "The New Mr. Franklin" due to its violent content. Prior to its finding in 2023, the only traces of the episode's existence were a [[https://www.cbsc.ca/decisionsarchive/19-9899/19-9899-1173_PD_E.pdf report filed by the Canadian Broadcast Standards Council]] and a clip appearing in the first season intro.

** The series is largely full of outdated technology, namely the fact that the Spencers own a CRT TV with an antenna connection, most of the phones are the rotary-dial type, and most computers are depicted as the big "box" ones. In the later seasons, most of the phones were updated to then-modern wireless dial phones.

* TechnologyMarchesOn: Much of the show has outdated technology, most notably with the Spencers themselves, who have a CRT TV with knobs and an old dial phone. The later seasons gave the Spencers a cordless wall phone, while the episode "Blow Job" had them getting a HDTV that was blown away by a hurricane; the rest of the series has them use the CRT TV.

* WrittenByCastMember: Greg Lawrence wrote roughly half of all the episodes produced, while also voicing multiple characters. Rick Kaulbars wrote about half of the other episodes, and also voiced various secondary characters. Voice actor David Elver is credited to one episode, "That Thing You Can Only Say in French".

* KeepCirculatingTheTapes: Of the thirteen shorts that were made prior to the series, before 2022. only seven of them were have been found from airings on the Burly Bear Network, and another through a Catalan dub. The remaining five remained lost for sometime until all of the shorts were uploaded by [=YouTube=] user 12ozApologizer in December 2022.
* MissingEpisode: "Pat-riot-ism" is absent from the third season on Upstream Flix's [=YouTube=] uploads. The episode does appear properly on digital services (Amazon Prime, Roku Channel, Tubi, et al.)

* TalkingToHimself: Greg Lawrence is not only the show's creator, producer and head writer, he also voices the show's narrator, Kevin's father, and all the other male members of the Spencer clan, including Kevin's grandfather and uncles.
