• California Doubling: The jungle scenes were shot in Colombia, rather than Bolivia where the events actually happened. Most viewers would be hard-pressed to tell the difference. Additional shooting also took place in Queensland.
• Dyeing for Your Art: In order to portray extreme starvation accurately on screen, Daniel Radcliffe starved himself in real life. While speaking to The Telegraph, Radcliffe revealed that he survived on a diet of one chicken breast and one protein bar per day, supplemented by copious amounts of coffee and cigarettes.
