- All-Star Cast: Pretty much anyone who was funny in the eighties shows up somewhere throughout the film.
- Hide Your Pregnancy: Tracey Ullman was pregnant during filming.
- Star-Derailing Role: Briefly. The film erased all the good will The Color Purple (1985) had given Whoopi Goldberg, before winning an Oscar for Ghost (1990).
- Technology Marches On: In the modern world, she'd have not even needed to get up off her computer to do a lot of things, except when face-to-face meetings were needed, and sometimes those can be done over online chat services. Never mind that chat services have massively improved in the past few decades.
- Troubled Production: Not a massively problematic one, but things were far from smooth. Nearly a dozen writers worked on the script, and the constant rewrites caused original star Shelley Long to drop out and do The Money Pit instead. Then, a few weeks into shooting, original director Howard Zieff was sacked after falling out with the producers and Whoopi Goldberg, leading to Penny Marshall being brought in to take over.
- What Could Have Been: Burt Reynolds was the original choice for director but he had a falling out with producer Joel Silver and left the project.
- Working Title: Knock-Knock.
