Trivia / JoCat

  • Creator Backlash:
    • In "A Crap Guide to Monster Hunter World - Switch Axe", he expresses regret at saying "Did you just assume my weapon type?" in the comments, a common joke about trans people. JoCat said he felt it was insensitive, harmful, and lazy in a way he tries to avoid with his jokes.
    • He unlisted the first version of his Crap Guide to Clerics after he realized it was highly inaccurate, leading him to redo the entire video from the ground up, including a scene where JoCrap beats up JoCat for getting it wrong. Based on comments from his Drunk Mario Party stream, it's still a pretty big sore spot for him; he admitted in said comments that he was worried that he had "disappointed a lot of people" by getting it wrong the first time.
  • Defictionalization:
    • There are plushies of the cute goblins from the A Crap Guide to D&D series, albeit only a temporary Makeship campaign. The same is true for his take on the Kobold.
    • Cami-Cat's role in "A Crap Guide to D&D - Dungeon Master" was to sing a short song intended to just be a joke. She and UniRob later created a full version.
  • Playing Against Type: JoCat's "A Crap Guide" series has him take on the persona of a blunt, fast-talking sarcastic narrator known as JoCrap, whereas his more common personality (as seen in roles such as Rat the Bard in The Unexpectables) is soft-voiced, light-hearted, and optimistic.
  • Why Fandom Can't Have Nice Things: On December 18th, 2023, JoCat announced that he was taking an indefinite hiatus from content creation due to sustained harassment on the internet, stemming from the creation of the short music video "I Like Girls", a parody of Lizzo's "I Like Boys".
