  • Bury Your Art: To this day, the group's self-titled debut is unavailable to stream and or purchase, as the band have thrown it out of their discography and consider Static Prevails to be their debut canonically. If you want to hear any song from the album, you'd have to either go to YouTube to hear it or purchase it online for a lot of money.
  • Distanced from Current Events: Following the 9/11 attacks, their 2001 album Bleed American was re-released as a Self-Titled Album, while its title track became "Salt Sweat Sugar". It was reissued with the original title seven years later.
  • Keep Circulating the Tapes: Aside from their self-titled debut, "Jen", a Cut Song from the Futures sessions is one of the few tracks that is definite to not make to streaming services. The song itself appeared in a cassette promotional copy for the album, and it's only way to obtain the song through official means. According to Jim on the now defunct band forum, the label felt that the song was too similar to "Pop Goes the World" by Men Without Hats and wanted a cut of the earnings from the song, one of the reasons that led it to being scrapped from the album and not appearing in subsequent reissues.
  • One-Hit Wonder: "The Middle" was their only song to be a major pop crossover hit, but they had many hits on the Alternative charts. However, "The Middle" is the one song everyone knows.
  • Saved for the Sequel:
    • "Sweetness" was originally recorded right after they finished the material for Clarity. They would later re-record for Bleed American and in turn it would become a moderate hit.
    • "Stop" from Invented originated from the Chase This Light sessions.
  • Word of God: Davey Havok is credited as a backing vocalist for the song "Congratulations". According to Jim Adkins, he asked for his backing vocals to be recorded on the phone and sent to him later.
