- Development Hell: The game was announced in February 2019. The game's developer, Team Cherry, released a preview of the game's soundtrack and some of its enemies in December 2019. After a year of radio silence, an article with some more details was published in Edge Magazine in January 2021. There would be no further concrete discussion of the game, or a release date, until June 2022, after which radio silence fell again.
- Refitted for Sequel:
- The entire game is essentially this: the game grew out of a paid DLC campaign for the first game starring Hornet (which was promised way back in the original Kickstarter campaign) but it "became too large and too unique to stay a DLC" according to Team Cherry, eventually becoming a full-fledged sequel built off of Hollow Knight's engine.
- The Forest of Bones, originally intended to be in the first game as a lava area full of bones and skulls, appears in Silksong as an actual area.
