• California Doubling: The novel is set in Pennsylvania, USA. The show is filmed in Ontario, Canada.
• Channel Hop: Started as a Netflix original, but when Netflix removed the series from their service the streaming rights were picked up by Film Rise. Now the show's first season can be streamed on Hoopla, and the entire series is available to stream on Tubi in Canada.
• Dawson Casting: 17-year old Roman Godfrey is portrayed by then 23-year old Bill Skarsgård in season 1. And although Peter Rumancek's age isn't explicitly mentioned, since they're both in their senior year he can be assumed to also be around 17-18, but Landon Liboiron was 22 at the time. Letha Godfrey and Christina Wendell are both 17 and 14 whilst there actors Penelope Mitchell and Freya Tingley were 22 and 19.
• Fake American: Of the major and supporting characters in season one only Joel de la Fuente, Lily Taylor and Kandyse McClure are American.
