Trivia / Highway Patrol

  • Alan Smithee: The "Ray Llewellyn" who composed the theme song (according to BMI's publishing records, as he was not credited in the show itself) was actually a pseudonym used for various composers at production company Ziv (they worked for hire and Ziv would buy out the rights to keep the royalties); David Rose was the actual composer in this case.
  • Typecasting: William Boyett, who became best known for playing police officers. Here, he played two different officers, both subordinates under Mathews: Officer Stanley "Gus" Johnson (1955-1958) and Officer Ken Williams (1958-1959), for a total of 65 episodes. Boyett would become best known as Sgt. McDonald on Adam-12 a decade after Highway Patrol ended.
