• Fake American: Laurie's actress Peggy Cummins was British. In the film, a circus barker describes Laurie as being from London, England, which was likely meant to cover in case Cummins couldn't hide her accent. To her credit, Cummins managed to sound convincingly American all through the film.
• Referenced by... : A 2015 film about the screenwriter of Gun Crazy, Dalton Trumbo, has Trumbo dismiss Crazy as hackwork but regard another film he wrote almost the same year, The Brave One, as being a great work. Gun Crazy became the enduring classic while Brave One is a forgotten film.
