Trivia / Good Luck Charlie

Go To

  • Acting for Two: In “Double Whammy”, Jason Dolley (PJ) plays high school age Bob on the Whammy tapes, while Eric Allan Kramer (Bob) plays PJ in a nightmare.
  • Adored by the Network: The Italian Disney Channel feed loved it so much that they sacrificed their timeshift channel for a temporary channel dedicated solely to this show. This happened in 2019, 5 years after the show ended.
  • The Cast Showoff: Bridgit Mendler's singing.
    • PJ is the guitarist for his band, and Jason Dolley plays the guitar in real-life as well as the piano.
    • Spencer and Emmet both can dance and they have a dance-off in which they take turns serving each other.
      • Spencer also sings part of "One Step Closer" (a song on Shane Harper's self titled album) during a talent show.
    • Teddy has a few chances to sing on the show, once for a talent show, a contest, and an audition for a school musical.
      • Her friend Skyler does a duet with Teddy for the talent show, but they combine with PJ and Emmet's band and mash-up both songs and subsequently win the talent show.
    • Then there's also Victor, who sings very well in an episode, as his actor, Kevin Covais was a finalist in American Idol.
  • Dawson Casting: Most of the actors are older than their characters. Bridgit Mendler is about three years older than Teddy, Jason Dolley is about two years older than PJ, When the show first started, Gabe was supposed to be 10, making Bradley Steven Perry two years older. Amy and Bob were supposed to be high school sweethearts. Leigh Allyn-Baker was 37 when the show first started and Eric Allan Kramer was about 10 years older. Gabe and Charlie are around the same age as their actors portraying them—give or take one year.
  • Directed by Cast Member: Eric Allan Kramer ("Wentz's Weather Girls" and "Rat-A-Teddy") and Leigh-Allyn Baker ("Charlie Whisperer" and "Bob's Beau-Be-Gone").
  • I Am Not Spock: Disney Channel in the UK has taken to advertising Minutemen and Sharpay's Fabulous Adventure as featuring "PJ/Gabe from Good Luck Charlie" as opposed to actually naming Jason Dolley & Bradley Steven Perry.
  • Irony as She Is Cast: PJ is dimwitted and considered a poor guitarist In-Universe, but Jason Dolley had a 4.0 GPA in high school and is able to play guitar and piano.
  • Missing Episode: "Down a Tree," the episode featuring the controversial same-sex couple, was skipped in its run in Latin America and Brazil. Oddly enough, the episode was dubbed in Spanish and aired on Disney Channel US's alternate audio track. Some European countries didn't air it either, including Russia.
    • The episode eventually made it to Netflix for Latin America and Brazil, and Kanal Disney's YouTube for Russia. It was also skipped in the Czech Republic during its run on Disney Channel, but it eventually aired on a national channel. All dubbed, of course.
    • The reason for this is that heterosexist Moral Guardians were enraged to see a Disney show displaying lesbianism to children in a positive manner, so they sent death threats to the cast and crew, including the actor of Charlie.
  • Playing Against Type: This is probably one of the rare times Samantha Boscarino (Skyler) doesn't portray a mean, Alpha Bitch type girl.
  • Real-Life Relative: Jason Dolley’s brother Jeffrey is scattered throughout the series as a prominent extra, culminating as a pizza delivery guy in the final episode.
  • Romance on the Set: Bridgit and Shane Harper (Spencer Walsh) were a real-life couple for a while until their relationship ended in 2015.
  • Write Who You Know: In the episode "Return to Super Adventure Land," Gabe says that the mom they got to replace Amy for the commercial looks more like his mom than Amy does. One sure hopes she would - that's Kimberly Perry, Bradley Steven Perry's real-life mom!
    • Samantha Boscarino (Skyler) has been Bridgit Mendler's best friend since they were 13 (Samantha got Bridgit into the singing and acting business in the first place).
