** PJ is the guitarist for his band, and Jason Dolley plays the guitar in real-life as well as the piano. However, opinions vary on [[IronyAsSheIsCast PJ's playing ability but that is a different trope]].

* IronyAsSheIsCast: PJ is dimwitted and a poor guitarist (which is debatable), but Jason Dolley had a 4.0 GPA in high school and is able to play guitar and piano.

** Leigh-Allyn Baker appears for have professional dance training, and Amy Duncan tries to teach her family simple and complicated dance moves and routines in an episode when she wants them to do a song and dance number for her hospital's fundraiser. When they don't even try to duplicate what she just showed them, she asks, "what are you waiting for?" and Teddy says "10 years for dance lessons." Which may be a hint to Leigh-Allyn having dance training, or could just be a joke, or both. She even gets an applause track played after the more complicated part of her routine, probably pointing to the former.

* AdoredByTheNetwork: The Italian Disney Channel feed loved it so much that they sacrificare their timeshift channel for a temporary channel dedicated solely to this show. This happened in 2019, 5 years after the show ended.

* DawsonCasting: Most of the actors are older than their characters. Bridgit Mendler is about three years older than Teddy, Jason Dolley is about two years older than PJ, When the show first started, Gabe was supposed to be 10, making Bradley Steven Perry two years older. Amy and Bob were supposed to be high school sweethearts. Leigh Allyn-Baker was 37 when the show first started and Eric Allan Kramer was about 10 years older. Gabe and Charlie are around the same age as their actors portraying them--give or take one year.

* ActingForTwo: In “Double Whammy”, Jason Dolley (PJ) plays high school age Bob on the Whammy tapes, while Eric Allan Kramer (Bob) plays PJ in a nightmare.

** A [[SubvertedTrope subversion]] in "The Bob Duncan Experience": During her video diary, Teddy starts to say "When life hands you lemons, make lemonade." This would have been a sly reference to Music/BridgitMendler's role as Olivia in ''Film/LemonadeMouth'', the final scene of which has the saying flashing on video screens behind the band, except that Teddy substitutes "go to the prom with Emmett" for "make lemonade."

* RomanceOnTheSet: Bridgit and Shane Harper (Spencer Walsh) are a real-life couple, and apparently a very strong one at that.

* ArtisticLicenseBiology: It's genetically impossible for two blondes to have brunette sons (unless one of them is not actually a Natural Blonde).
** It is possible that Amy is not a natural blonde, her sister is a brunette.

** The episode eventually made it to Netflix for Latin America and Brazil, and Kanal Disney's YouTube for Russia. It was also skipped in the Czech Republic during its run on Disney Channel, but it eventually aired on a national channel. All dubbed, of course.
