Trivia / Goodbye My Princess

Go To

  • Completely Different Title:
    • Like most Chinese dramas, the English title isn't even close to the Chinese one.
    • In Thai its title is ตงกง ตำนานรักตำหนักบูรพา (Dtong Gong · Dtam-naan Rák Dtam Nàk Bu-Rá-Pha), meaning roughly "Dong Gong: Legend of Love in the Eastern Palace". (Doubles as Department of Redundancy Department because "Dong Gong", the original Chinese title which is included in the Thai title, means "Eastern Palace".)
  • Darkhorse Casting / What Could Have Been: Neither Peng Xiao Ran nor Chen Xing Xu were famous before the series. Ironically, the director wanted both lead roles to be played by popular actors. The series lacked the budget to hire better-known actors, however, so they had to cast unknowns. One of the screenwriters said she thought Chen Xing Xu wasn't handsome enough to play Cheng Yin, and Peng Xiao Ran was cast less than a month before filming began.
  • "Do It Yourself" Theme Tune: Peng Xiao Ran and Chen Xing Xu sang a version of "初见/Chū Jiàn/First Sight", though not the version included in the main OST.
  • Recycled Soundtrack: "爱殇/Ài Shāng/Love Catastrophe" was apparently originally written for the OST of The Journey of Flower, though it wasn't used in the series itself. It's unknown why it was reused for this series.
  • Star-Making Role: For both Peng Xiao Ran and Chen Xing Xu, who've gotten several awards and starring roles in other series because of their roles in this one.
