• Keep Circulating the Tapes: Telemann's 1731 oratorio Mach dich auf, werde Licht! ("Arise, become light!") is believed to be completely lost. The work, with a libretto by A. J. Zell, was centred on the conversion to Christianity of the Roman centurion Cornelius, who some traditions consider the first gentile to become Christian. The biblical Acts of the Apostles tells the story of Cornelius' conversion and baptism after an Angel appears to him, and this book was apparently Telemann and Zell's main source for the oratorio.
