Trivia / Futurama S8 E1: "The Impossible Stream"

• Meaningful Release Date: This episode released on the 24th of July 2023; the same day and month that Season 7 episode "Calculon 2.0" released back in 2013. Not only is Calculon a large part of this episode (being resurrected again to appear in a continuation of All My Circuits), the Robot Devil's demeanour and tone is exactly as it was back then too; no long negotiations, just one quick phone call was all it took to get him to resurrect Calculon and off his hands, taking any opportunity to get rid of him, as he's annoying everyone in Robot Hell.
• Reality Subtext: Not only does the episode comment frequently on Futurama's storied past with cancellations and revivals, it also depicts the writers of a streaming show struggling to meet the constant demand for new content, and then getting replaced by an AI (Bender), only to have their show cancelled anyway. These anxieties are what, in part, led to the WGA/SAG-AFTRA Strike of 2023, which was ongoing when the episode premiered.
  • The episode even managed to accidently predict an infamous viral tweet that bashed the striking writers for the effect the lack of new content might have on the mental health of viewers.
