• Actor-Inspired Element: Reinette is largely based on Joëlle Miquel, with much of the script taken from real incidents that happened to her. Reinette's paintings were done by Miquel.
• Promoted Fangirl: Joëlle Miquel made persistent phone calls to Éric Rohmer until he agreed to meet her. He found her fascinating and decided to use her as the basis for a film.
