• Serendipity Writes the Plot:
  • Some minor level changes were done to the introductory sequences and the South Ponyville basement, due to technical shortcomings involving the game's palette system conflicting with the sprites for the Imperial Soldiers.^note The game overwrites Palette 6 for character in various circumstances, and a result of its special designation for this is that characters that use Palette 6 don't show up properly in the save menu. Since the Imperial recruits use Palette 6, the save point is removed from Neighshe's mines so that Snips and Snails can't be seen in the menu, and the save point in South Ponyville was moved to after the secret door so it can only be entered once Flash is out of his soldier disguise.
  • For 2.0 a pit was added to Pinkie's cave in Neighshe to be the mirror pool she used to clone herself. While it was intended to be full of water, the Neighshe caves use a palette system that doesn't have water effects like some other caves, so instead the empty pit was added and an NPC explains that Pinkie cloned herself too many times and the pool dried up.
• Throw It In!:
  • Discord delivers a final attack after fleeing in the battle with him at Neighshe, a result of his counterattacking battle script still being set to execute after the Flee command does. However, the creator decided that giving off a parting blow as he runs is a thing Discord would do anyway, so this was unchanged.
  • For the ProtoTroop boss, one LPer was able to scramble its AI by changing its elemental weaknesses with the Debilitator, as the ProtoTroop determines its attack patterns by its elemental weakness. While this usage of the Debilitator was unintended^note in the original game, most bosses that use Wall Change can't be fought during a time where the Debilitator is usable, and the few that are, it's not that useful anyway, the creator decided it was fun and made sense in-story, so it was kept in. Another player killed it by spamming Espers against it before it got a chance to Wall Change and nullify their elemental attacks. The creator considered nerfing this but again decided it was perfectly fitting in-story that Sombra's latest creation is easily crushed by the power of the Espers (this was then nullified in 2.0 when the ProtoTroop was set to Wall Change at the start of the fight).
• Trolling Creator
  • The Gem Box/Soul of Thamasa atop the Fanatics Tower is replaced with an ordinary Apple. Made up for by the boss dropping Twilight's Infinity +1 Sword, but still. Averted in the 2.0 release where the chest holds the Alicorn Amulet.
  • The airship model in the auction is replaced by the Magicite "Megan." And just like the airship model you will never be able to buy it successfully.
• What Could Have Been:
  • Very early on, the part of Gogo was going to go to Mare-Do-Well, with hints that under the cloak it was Starlight Glimmer. This was dropped before the first public beta and Trixie was brought back for Gogo; Starlight later came back in a completely different role.
  • Lightning Dust played the part of Lone Wolf early on. The role later went to Trixie to increase her presence in the World of Balance.
  • Crunch initially stood in for the Earth element with the Eight Wraths. He was later given the role of the Guardian and Porcina took his place.
  • During planning for the 2.0, there was serious consideration to switching Cadance's role with Sunset Shimmer, or Shining Armor with Flash Sentry. Both were dropped due to Word of God feeling the impact from such switches would be more negative than positive.^note Either replacement would have slanted the cast heavily to unicorn playable characters, Sunset wouldn't have allowed for the Fire, Ice, Lightning trio that Cadance forms with Twilight and Celestia, and it would have meant the opera subplot falls apart without Cadance. For Shining Armor, the concern was that Locke's skills and personally don't fit Shining Armor, especially with regards to not trusting Cadance/Celes.
    • An alternative plan for 2.0 was to add a subplot to revive Shining Armor and have him feature on the airship as a Guest-Star Party Member with limited functionality. The sheer amount of technical hurdles involved shut down those ideas.
